April Fools And Road Fools

We left at 10:20am on Friday, April Fools Day.

This was the trip. We took the red Jetta, thus avoiding any off road terrain. The Jetta came in handy, especially with its efficient use of fuel.

Stayton to Bend: 116.58

Bend to LaPine: 30.21

LaPine to Fort Rock: 37.58

Fort Rock to Christmas Valley: 52.06

Christmas Valley to Wagontire: 47.73

Wagontire to Riley: 28.45

Riley to Burns: 26.66

Dad ran into a few issues at the pump. Manual transaction with the credit card ended with him calling the Chase fraud department later that night, around 3:30am. You know, all sorts of fun.

Burns to Frenchglen: 60.04

Frenchglen to Fields: 51.59

Fields to Denio: 21.44

One wrong turn and we were in Denio, Nevada.

Denio to Lakeview: 117.30

We barely missed two wild mustangs crossing the road. I was trying to imagine the sound of their hooves galloping across the black of asphalt. Bright of headlights caught the brilliant sheen of black mane, along with their massive hind quarters.

Lakeview to Paisley: 45.14

Not a place to stay in the sleepy hollows of Lakeview. Not that we really wanted to in the first place.

Paisley to Silver Lake: 50.78

Silver Lake to LaPine: 49.40

LaPine to Sisters: 51.35

Sisters to Stayton: 94.83

And I'll throw in another ten for driving around in Lakeview looking for a place to stay, and then a few for the back roads in Sisters.

Total Miles For A Casual Day In A Half Trip: 891.14

I'd like to do it again, but with a little more daylight thrown in.

Soaking up the sun.

The stuff.

"What?"

Jack rabbits adore.

Desert dweller.

Dad loves the ravens, but the eagles don't.

Grub.

No sharing.

Front lawn.

Stranger.

Stoked.

My other yard.

Fast enough.

One wrong turn, and welcome to Denio, Nevada.

Spring fed.

Pondi.
