The Harrier Club

Northern Harriers are usually found near marshes, thus once being called marsh hawks. Dad and I located several harriers, far from any marsh, dropping on helpless rodents while gliding above the green of grassy acreage right outside of Stayton. Long rolling hills, painted green, fresh from relentless downpours, spurred rodents into a feeding frenzy, and brought harriers into action.

Several harriers were spotted, including one male that chose the opposite side of the road. Dad observed one female trying to locate him, and this without much success. Dad gave him the name Bi-Boy, after finding out that he had spent much of his time on the opposite side of the road.

In action.

Ready for lunch.

Cruising.

Chuck it in the lake.

Spring.
